Doctor Of Medicine (MD)
Key Knowledge and Skills to be Acquired:
Basic Sciences:You'll delve into subjects like anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, and pharmacology, learning the structure and function of the human body, how it works, and how diseases develop.
Fundamentals of Doctoring:You'll learn how to take medical histories, perform physical exams, and develop essential communication and patient interaction skills.
Clinical Rotations:You'll rotate through different medical specialties (e.g., surgery, pediatrics, internal medicine) in hospitals and clinics, gaining practical experience with patients under the supervision of residents and attending physicians.
Hands-on Patient Care:You'll apply your knowledge to real-life situations, learning how to diagnose and treat illnesses, manage patient care, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
Requirements
Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with minimum of 6 points: A minimum of D grade in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Clinical Dentistry with an average of āB" or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of āDā grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.
Course description
An MD, or Doctor of Medicine, degree is a professional degree for physicians and surgeons, signifying completion of medical school and, in the US, typically involves four years of medical school and three years of residency training. In many countries, the MD is a postgraduate research degree awarded for original research in a clinical or healthcare-related field.
