Mandate

The Directorate of Policy and Planning at St. Joseph University In Tanzania (SJUIT) plays a strategic role in guiding institutional development, ensuring coherence in planning, and promoting evidence-based decision-making. Its key functions typically include:

Strategic Planning and Review

Coordinating the preparation, implementation, and periodic review of the University’s Strategic Plan to align with its vision and mission.

Policy Formulation and Review

Developing, reviewing, and updating institutional policies, frameworks, and guidelines to ensure consistency and regulatory compliance.

Annual Operational Planning

Guiding faculties and departments in preparing annual work plans aligned with strategic priorities and budget frameworks

Performance Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)

Establishing monitoring systems, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and evaluating institutional performance against set targets

Institutional Research and Data Management

Collecting, analyzing, and maintaining institutional data to support planning, accreditation, and informed decision-making

Preparation of Institutional Reports

Coordinating the preparation of annual reports, performance reports, and submissions to owners and other stakeholders.

Resource Mobilization Support

Supporting development of project proposals and funding frameworks aligned with institutional priorities.

Risk Management and Institutional Forecasting

Identifying strategic risks and supporting long-term forecasting to enhance sustainability and growth.

Quality Assurance Support (Strategic Dimension)

Collaborating with relevant units to ensure planning processes integrate quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Coordination of University Planning Calendar

Ensuring timely submission of plans, budgets, and reports across departments in accordance with institutional timelines.
